| Roby's invitation to family to attend PFLAG meeting
Hello...
After about 18 months of speaking all over America, we're finally home long enough to have the honor of speaking at our very own Bellingham PFLAG Chapter meeting this Thursday, May 11th at 7 pm.
What do we speak about? Good question... We talk about our adventures and experiences across America on our year-long journey, "Gay Into Straight America." We'll also be talking about our past, our present and our future... and if you're curious about any of these, please come! We promise a fun-filled evening combined with humor, truth and sentiment. If you're looking for entertainment, we'll guarantee that you get some. If you're looking for truth, we'll guarantee you'll hear ours. If you're into human drama and interested in touching & sentimental stories... you'll get that, too. Hey... you can't really get all of those combined if you go to the movies! The only thing we won't have is buttered popcorn.
PFLAG is a national organization dedicated to the loving support and education of Parents, Friends & Families of Lesbians & Gays. If you are curious about the organization, click here for more info. Dotti and I have spoken to PFLAG chapters all across America... and each one was nothing short of delightful, heart-warming, energizing, and filled with love and acceptance. We honor and appreciate the parents, familes and allies that dedicate themselves to PFLAG, knowing that the work they do and the commitment they have for justice and equality is saving lives and creating positive change in the world.
We would be honored by your presence at the Bellingham PFLAG meeting this coming Thursday. ...and don't worry, no one is EVER put on the spot to say or do anything. It is a safe environment condusive to learning, growing and connecting. Most importantly, it's an environment of love and acceptance for ALL people.
Oh, I almost forgot... Rylee Joy will be there too! Rylee hasn't missed a PFLAG meeting yet! PFLAG excites her more than a run on the beach, and that's hard to beat! Rylee has romped down so many church sanctuary ailses, shes lost count. She says they're all FUN! She especially loves the older churches with all the hallways, doors, rooms, balconys and pipe organs! So much to explore in those places!
If you are free on Thursday evening, and you'd like to hear about our adventures around America, our lives and our future plans... please join us! We'd LOVE to have you. On a more personal note, it would mean a lot to us if you would consider coming, since neither of us have ever had a family member attend a PFLAG meeting.
The passion of our lives is engaging hearts & minds, creating authentic connections and dissolving differences that separate us. Our goal is not to change minds, but to engage hearts and minds. Since you can't hate someone whose story you know, it is our goal to share our stories and listen to the stories of others... all in an effort to do whatever it takes to create a more peaceful, compassionate, loving, & accepting world for all of us.
